Operation of a Lag Switch

When the switch is activated, the device is designed to function for a few seconds on a timer, effectively blocking all network traffic between the local game device and the Internet temporarily. Used during gameplay, the device causes the person using a lag switch to appear to opponents as frozen while in fact they are still able to play locally and gain advantages in the game. When the lag switch timer expires, the local game device will resynchronize with the online game that appears to opponents in a sudden burst.

A lag switch is a tool used on a personal network and allows you to delay internet traffic going from your game console to the internet. Lag switches are normally used by gamers who want to cheat on online games on game systems like Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox, and Playstation 2.

A lag switch is used to interrupt the internet connection to your game to be able to beat your online component. If you push your lag switch while playing you can not see any changes to game play on your TV screen. One way to see if your lag cheat is really working is to ask the person you are playing online. This is a very good method to test your lag time.

When pushing your lag switch’s button, lag switch devices are normally designed to freeze your internet connection for a few seconds. Some lag switch devices have a timer built in and some do not. By pushing the lag button you will block all network traffic between the local gaming device and the Internet. The gamer uses the lag switch while playing an opponent online and the lag device makes the person using a lag switch to appear to opponents as frozen. However, the gamer using the gaming device can still play on his TV screen and gain advantages in the game. When the lag switch timer expires, the local game device will catch up with the online game which appears to opponents as a glitch.
